Waquoit Bay Yacht Club Membership Process
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club.
Below is the process for consideration of prospective member(s) of the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club.
General Information:
- Membership is limited subject to the determination of the board.
- Prospective members are considered once each year. New applications must be received by May 1 and will be acted on before June 15th.
- A membership committee has been established consisting of a chairperson and as many as four additional members.
Process:
- A prospective member should contact a WBYC Member who will agree to be one of two sponsors of the individual or family.
- The application form for membership is available at the link below on this page in pdf format for downloading and printing by a club member only.
- The club member will send the application to the prospective member.
- All prospective members must submit a completed WBYC application package for membership which includes:
- The completed WBYC application
- A letter stating their interest in joining the club and reasons why
- Two letters of recommendation, one each, from two club members who are in good standing and are not on the membership committee.
- The completed application package should be sent by mail to the chairperson, no later than May 1, the mailing address is on the application.
- The first week in June, the membership committee will meet and interview all prospective new members.
- After the interview process, the membership committee will meet with the board and make their recommendations. The Board of Directors will make the final decision regarding the applicant(s).
- By June 15th, the membership chairperson will notify applicants who have been accepted and send them the invoice for the required initiation and membership fees, due June 30 to the WBYC treasurer.
- By June 15th, the membership chairperson will notify by mail those applicants who have not been accepted.
Please keep in mind that all membership decisions are dependent on the number of openings available.
All completed applications, letters, and two sponsor letters, must be received on or before May 1st in order to be acted on by June 15th.
